Mihail Valchanov has over 14 years of professional experience in the financial sector, primarily related to the activities of the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB).

He holds a Master’s degree in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in International Economic Relations from the University of National and World Economy (UNWE). He has also graduated in Law from South-West University “Neofit Rilski”.

His career includes expert and managerial positions in the field of international finance, including the development of sustainable partnerships with European, Asian, and multilateral financial institutions, as well as the structuring of projects of strategic importance to the bank.

In the period 2019–2022, Mihail Valchanov served as Deputy Head of the International Financial Institutions and European Funds Department at BDB, where he was responsible for securing funding from leading institutions such as the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund, the Council of Europe Development Bank, KfW, as well as Chinese, Korean, and other lenders.

Since 2022, he has been heading the Negotiations and International Cooperation division in BDB.
